Barja is one of the villages in the territory of Kharroub, located in the west of Chouf district, Mount Lebanon governorate. It is 32km south away from Beirut city. It rises between 173 and 405m from the sea level. It has a moderate climate in sum er and winter seasons. Its surface rises at the flat hillocks to end by narrow villages, is a natural border with the neighboring villages equipped with fountains, fertile soil and limestone rock layers.

Its antique houses were built next to each other on 3 hills by carved stones, thick walls and wooden ceilings covered by tensioned sand or mounted on arches, arcades and rock solid foundations.
